Ob 05 December 2022 the law on the establishment of a bureau for the provision of public services in the consular offices of Russia was published

A law was adopted on the establishment on the territory of certain foreign states of state unitary enterprises that provide public services on the territory of consular institutions of Russia. We wrote about this law at the drafting stage earlier.

The list of foreign states on whose territory such service centers will be organized will be established by the federal executive body in charge of foreign affairs.

Also, the specified law establishes the deadline for the term of office of honorary consuls of Russia at 5 years, with the possibility of multiple extensions.
 
The specified law comes into force after 90 days from the date of its official publication, that is, on March 5, 2023.
