On October 26, 2021, an agreement was signed between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Russia and Uzbekistan, as well as the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
This agreement is aimed at closer cooperation in the main areas of labor migration, namely:
- monitoring the needs of Russian employers for workers;
- increasing the efficiency of pre-departure training;
- accompanying companies and workers in the process of an organized recruitment of migrants;
- assistance in resolving labor migration issues in the context of a worsening sanitary and epidemiological situation and the introduction of restrictive measures (especially in the context of the spread of COVID-19).
In addition, this document spelled out an increase in training centers for migrants. For example, it implies the opening of two more branches of Russian universities in Uzbekistan (the Kosygin University of Design and Technology and the Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography).
The reason for the conclusion of an agreement in the field of labor migration was the fact that Russia especially during the pandemic faced a shortage of workers in many sectors of the economy, such as construction, agro-industrial complex and logistics. We would like to note that earlier, on October 6, 2021, M. Mishustin signed a decree on the implementation of a pilot project to attract citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan to carry out temporary work with Russian legal entities engaged in economic activities in the construction sector.
