On April 28, 2025, Russian President signed Decree No. 272, extending the deadline for illegal migrants to legalize their status in Russia.
Previously, under Decree No. 1126 (December 30, 2024), foreigners listed in the Register of Controlled Persons could adjust their status without leaving Russia or voluntarily depart by April 30, 2025.
The new decree extends this deadline to September 10, 2025. The law took effect immediately upon signing.
