The Czech Republic suspended the issuance of visas and residence permits back in February, 2022. Now they have extended this measure for one year. The corresponding decision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic was supported by the government of the Czech Republic, the news portal of the National Press and Information Agency of the Czech Republic reported.
According to the Czech Foreign Ministry, this measure is designed to "protect the foreign policy interests of the Czech Republic" in connection with military actions in Ukraine and put pressure on Russia and Belarus.
An exception will be made for trips for humanitarian purposes, as well as for those who already have a residence permit. Also, the decision does not apply to short-term visas for relatives of Czech citizens and those whose stay in the country "is in the interests of the Czech Republic."
It is worth noting that the current decision, rather, on the contrary, softens the conditions of the ban, since until now it has generally been indefinite (introduced after the start of the Russian military special operation in Ukraine).
