On April 7, 2017, new rules of the Schengen Borders Code providing for the detailed check for all citizens of the EU countries came into force. It is reported by the Polish border guard service.
The Polish border service reported:
«When entering and leaving the Schengen area, they (EU citizens) should undergo the detailed control, not a minimum, as it was before. The minimal control was that the traveler was going through identification and checking the documents for their authenticity. Tougher regulation means that every traveler will also be checked within national and European databases in order to confirm that the traveler does not pose a threat to national security».
At the same time, these measures will increase the duration of border checks.
