On June 28, 2022, Federal Law No. 207-FZ dated June 28, 2022 "On Amendments to the Federal Law "On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in Russia" was published, according to which foreign IT specialists can obtain a residence permit in Russia in a simplified manner.
Foreign IT-specialists can obtain a residence permit in Russia in a simplified manner, bypassing the temporary residence permit stage. Other foreign citizens need to live in Russia for at least a year with a temporary residence permit in order to obtain a residence permit.
Members of the families of such specialists, as spouses, children, children of spouses, parents, spouses of parents, grandparents and grandchildren, can also obtain a residence permit the simplified procedure.
The law also establishes that the residence permit of such a foreign citizen and his family members will be canceled if within 30 working days after the termination of the employment contract with an organization accredited by IT, he does not conclude a new employment contract with such an organization or in the case when the state accreditation of such an organization has been cancelled..
