Prior to the entry into force of this law, only citizens of the states that were part of the USSR can obtain citizenship in a simplified manner through contract service, and only after they have served under the contract for at least 3 years.
The bill has been approved by the Federation Council and will come into force after being signed by the president and officially published.
After the bill was approved by the Federation Council, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced that in the very near future the Moscow Government would deploy a full-fledged infrastructure to assist the Russian Ministry of Defense in organizing the entry of foreign citizens into the military service, city services would do everything necessary to make the conclusion of contracts as convenient as possible for citizens.
