According to the decree, the following categories of citizens can apply for Russian citizenship in a simplified manner, bypassing a temporary residence permit:
- persons who have entered into a contract for military service in the Armed Forces of Russia, other military formations for a period of at least 1 year and who took (took) part in hostilities for at least 6 months, or who took part in them for less than 6 months and were injured at the same time (wound, injury, concussion), as a result of which they are subject to dismissal for health reasons;
- spouses, children, parents of the citizens indicated in paragraph above (also in case of their death).
The following documents will need to be submitted along with the application:
- the passport;
- photos 3x4 - 3 pcs;
- certificate of name change, if the full name has changed;
- petition of an official authorized by the head of the federal executive body with whom the applicant has entered into a contract;
If children are included in the application, then you must also provide:
- birth certificate of the child;
- consent of a child aged 14 to 18 to acquire Russian citizenship;
- certificate of adoption (adoption).
If the application is submitted by relatives of those serving under the contract, then in addition they provide a document confirming the degree of kinship with the serviceman.
The term for consideration of the application is 3 months (can be extended up to 6 months). Applicants must undergo a medical examination and fingerprint registration.
The Decree entered into force on September 30, 2022.
