Malaysian authorities are simplifying the conditions for entry and stay in the country for those entering from the Russian Federation, Belarus and Armenia, starting from May 1, 2022.
The main exemptions apply to fully vaccinated citizens, they now only need to download the MySejahtera application and register in it before departure. The app is available for Android and Apple. Malaysia recognizes the Russian Sputnik V vaccine. Vaccinated tourists do not need to take a PCR test for COVID-19, an antigen test upon arrival, carry insurance with COVID-19 coverage, and do not need to be under quarantine upon entry.
The rules for entry and stay for unvaccinated and partially vaccinated tourists are the following:
- Registration in the MySejahtera application before departure to Malaysia.
- Passing a PCR test for COVID-19 not later than 72 hours before arrival in Malaysia. A negative test result performed in English needs to be presented to the border guard at the Malaysian airport.
- Passing an antigen test within 24 hours after arriving in Malaysia (this can be done at the airport).
- Staying in quarantine for 5 days at your hotel/place of stay.
- Carrying an insurance with COVID-19 coverage.
Please note that the decree published on the website of the Malaysian Embassy in Moscow does not quite reflect reality, for example, it does not indicate the need to take an antigen test upon arrival, and also notes that quarantine is observed for 14, not 5 days.
Consultants of the Confidence Group contacted the Embassy and clarified the actual requirements for entry into the country indicated above.
Please also be informed that citizens of Russian Federation enter Malaysia free of visas with a maximum stay of 30 days.
