Russia's Ministry of Education and Science has proposed halting the publication of sample exam materials for foreign nationals seeking work permits or patents. These mandatory tests cover Russian language, Russian history, and fundamentals of Russian legislation.
Currently, the education watchdog Rosobrnadzor is required to publish annual sample tests, including correct answers. However, a draft resolution posted on the official legal acts portal proposes removing this requirement.
The Ministry argues that easy access to these samples allows migrants to pass the tests through rote memorization without genuinely mastering Russian. Removing open access to the materials aims to ensure a more objective assessment of migrants' actual knowledge.
We are closely monitoring the progress of this initiative and will report significant developments.
