At the moment, a draft federal law is being developed, which will have to regulate the legal status of certain categories of foreign minors in Russia.
According to this project, a birth certificate issued on the territory of Russia will become an identity document for minors who have not reached the age of 14, were born in the territory of the Russia and do not have such a document.
In addition, it is planned to introduce new grounds for extending the period of stay on the territory of Russia. Therefore, the following category of citizens will have such an opportunity:
- children of foreign students who arrived in Russia from visa-free countries and who studied at Russian educational institutions;
- foreign citizens (including minors) who arrived in Russia from visa-free countries for the period of consideration of an application for the issuance of a permanent residence permit;
- children and spouses of foreign citizens who arrived from visa-free countries and studied in Russian educational institutions under the jurisdiction of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs and other federal executive bodies.
