On February 17, 2019, the Order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia (MIA) as of January 16, 2019 N 12, providing for a three-month period for issuing a passport of a citizen of Russia when submitting documents at the place of residence of the applicant instead of the previous four-month period came into force.
Changes was add to the two Administrative Regulations of MIA of Russia, approved by Order of MIA as of November 16, 2017 N 864 and Order of MIA as of November 27, 2017 N 889.
It is stipulated that the period for issuing a passport or sending a notice of refusal is calculated from the date of submission of application for issuing a passport, including through the multifunctional center or in form of an electronic document using the Single Portal, and should not exceed three months when submitting documents at the place of residence of the applicant.
Also, the period for issuing a passport containing an electronic storage medium is calculated from the date of submission of the application for issuing a passport containing an electronic storage medium, including in the form of an electronic document using the Single Portal, and should not exceed three months when submitting documents at the place of residence of the applicant.
