The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia reports the launch of a function on the State Services portal for self-registration of a foreigner at the place of stay of a citizen of Russia

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia reports that on March 7, 2025, as part of the provision of the state service "Registration at the place of stay of a citizen of Russia", a functional option for self-sending a notification of the applicant's arrival at the place of stay in the form of an electronic document is added to the personal account of a foreign citizen or stateless person on the unified portal of state and municipal services (State Services).

According to the law, such an opportunity became available to foreign citizens on October 26, 2023, from the moment the relevant law came into force (more details in our news), but the technical possibility was only implemented now.

A foreign citizen independently fills out the corresponding notification in his personal account on State Services. After submitting the notification, the owner of the residential premises sees this notification in his personal account and agrees to register the foreign citizen for migration purposes at the place of residence, thereby confirming the fact that the applicant lives in his residential premises.

This measure is intended to simplify the procedure for registering for migration purposes for citizens and significantly reduce the time for police officers to process the information received.
