On July 1, 2022, the Order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia No. 854 dated November 8, 2021 came into force. According to the document, the period for issuing a Russian internal passport has been reduced, and now it is 5 working days instead of 10.
Previously, the period for issuing a Russian internal passport was 10 days, if the necessary documents are submitted at the citizen’s place of residence. In all other cases, the procedure should have lasted no more than 30 days.
Now a new passport will be issued within 5 working days, regardless of the place of residence, stay, actual residence or circumstances of its replacement. The innovation will also affect passports with electronic media.
