With the reference to our news, The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that if foreign citizens and stateless persons, as of June 16, 2021, have valid visas, documents with affixed marks on the permitted period of stay, or supporting documents of temporary or permanent residence in the Russian Federation, as well as if, the end of the periods of temporary stay of these citizens fell on the period after March 15, 2020 and the course of these periods was suspended, then there is no need to contact the territorial office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and the period of their temporary stay is automatically extended.
However, if a foreign citizen or stateless person does not have legal grounds for staying in the Russian Federation or he/she has not left the territory of the Russian Federation due to the resumption of air communication with the state of which he/she is a citizen or in which he/she has the right of permanent residence, then such person can apply with an application to the territorial body of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and he/she will not be subject to measures related to expulsion and a ban on entry into the Russian Federation. If these citizens and stateless persons do not want to regulate their stay in the Russian Federation, they have the right to leave the territory of the Russian Federation until September 30, 2021.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs recalles that temporary measures in relation to foreign citizens and stateless persons are valid only from June 16, 2021 until the expiration of 90 days from the date of the removal of the temporary restrictions imposed by the Russian Federation on transport links with the state of which they are a citizen or in which they have the right of permanent residence. The list of foreign states in respect of which these restrictions have already been removed or will be removed is established by the Government of the Russian Federation with an indication of the date of removal.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs also draws attention to the fact that from June 16, 2021, the law enforcement practice related to the cancellation of previously issued work permits or patents, temporary residence permits and residence permits is resumed, with the exception of foreign citizens who are outside the Russian Federation for more than 6 months now.
