In connection with the publication by some sources of inaccurate information on regime for obtaining citizenship of Russia, the Confidence Group Company explains the changes in legislation on citizenship of Russia, which will enter into force on October 2, 2019.
On July 3, 2019, the President of Russia signed a bill reducing from three years to one year the working experience of foreign workers in professions provided by the Government of Russia, giving the right to simplified acquisition of Russian citizenship.
The bill reduces from three years to one year the necessary period for foreign citizens and stateless persons to work in Russia by profession (specialty, position), included in the list of professions (specialties, positions) of qualified specialists entitled to be granted Russian citizenship in simplified order.
Thus, in paragraph "и" p. 2 Article. 14 Federal Law “On Citizenship of Russia”, three years of work experience will be replaced by one.
These changes will enter into force on October 2, 2019.
In turn, paragraph "b" of Part 2 of Art. 14 of this Federal Law will remain unchanged: “have been married to a citizen of Russia for at least three years” that is, the period of marriage required for simplified acquisition of Russian citizenship will remain unchanged.
The application for admission to Russian citizenship was approved by Decree of the President of Russia dated November 14, 2002 N 1325 "On approving the regulation on the procedure for considering issues of citizenship of Russia", the application form for admission to Russian citizenship will not change.
