In March 2024, visa control at airports in the arrival areas from other Schengen countries was already abolished for these countries. From 1 January 2025, it was also removed from land borders, and checkpoints were removed from road and rail routes.
We remind you that the Schengen Agreement on the free movement of persons, goods and capital was signed on June 14, 1985 in the city of Schengen in Luxembourg by five countries of the European Union (EU) - Belgium, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. On June 19, 1990, these same countries concluded the Convention on the procedure for the entry into force of this agreement. Both documents have been in force since March 26, 1995.
Currently, the Schengen area includes 29 countries - 25 EU member states, as well as Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
