Recall that unified electronic visas were introduced by the Federal Law of July 31, 2020 No. 305-FZ "On Amendments to the Federal Law On the procedure for leaving Russia and entering Russia".
Starting from January 1, 2021, this law introduces a universal united electronic single-entry visa for short-term stay of foreign citizens in Russia for tourism, business, guest and humanitarian purposes. The list of states whose citizens are issued a united electronic visa is determined by the Government of Russia under this law, and was approved by Order of the Government of Russia dated October 6, 2020 No. 2571-р, as we wrote in our news.
The e-visa is valid for 60 days from the date of its issuance with the permitted period of stay of a foreign citizen on the territory of Russia no more than 16 days from the date of entry. To apply for an e-visa, you need to fill out an application on a special website. The term for issuing an e-visa is no more than four calendar days from the date a foreign citizen submits an application for its issuance.
The list of checkpoints through which you can cross the Russian border with a single electronic visa was originally approved by Decree of the Government of Russia dated 10/23/2020 N 2741-r (read more in our news), which was further amended several times in the direction of increasing the number of such checkpoints (Orders of the Government of Russia No. 36-r dated January 16, 2021, No. 2440-r dated September 3, 2021, No. 2929-r dated October 19, 2021, No. 3526-r dated December 10, 2021, No. 280-r dated February 17, 2022, May 30, 2022 .2023 N 1419-r).
By the latest order of the Government of Russia dated May 30, 2023 No. 1419-r, three more sea checkpoints in St. Petersburg were added to the list: previously only the Marine Station was on the list, now Fort Konstantin, English (Angliyskaya) Embankment and Lieutenant Schmidt Embankment have been added to these points.
In connection with the COVID-19 epidemic, Russia introduced a moratorium on the issuance of electronic visas for an indefinite period, now the authorities are working on the issue of resuming its work.
