According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, at the same time, the list of states whose citizens such a visa is supposed to be issued to, which currently includes 52 countries, will be preserved and expanded. Also, in the near future, an additional inclusion of three more countries was announced in the specified list, approved by the order of the Russian Government dated October 6, 2020 No. 2571-р, namely Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar.
Recently, the authorities resumed preparations for the launch of the electronic visa system, as we wrote about earlier.
Recall that unified electronic visas were introduced by the Federal Law of July 31, 2020 No. 305-FZ "On Amendments to the Federal Law "On the procedure for leaving Russia and entering Russia".
This law, from January 1, 2021, introduces a universal united electronic single-entry visa for short-term stay of foreign citizens in Russia for tourism, business, guest and humanitarian purposes. The list of states whose citizens are issued a single electronic visa is determined by the Government of Russia under this law, and was approved by Order of the Government of Russia dated October 6, 2020 No. 2571-r, as we wrote in our news.
The e-visa is valid for 60 days from the date of its issuance with the permitted period of stay of a foreign citizen on the territory of Russia no more than 16 days from the date of entry. To apply for an e-visa, you need to fill out an application on a special website. The term for issuing an e-visa is no more than four calendar days from the date a foreign citizen submits an application for its issuance.
The list of border crossing checkpoints through which you can cross the Russian border with a single electronic visa was originally approved by Order of the Government of Russia dated October 23, 2020 N 2741-r (read more in our news), which was further amended several times in the direction of increasing the number of such checkpoints.
In connection with the COVID-19 epidemic, Russia introduced a moratorium on the issuance of electronic visas for an indefinite period, and only now the system is finally being launched.
