On April 12, 2016, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Bolivian Foreign Minister David Choquehuanca signed the agreement on visa-free regime between the countries. The agreement was signed after talks in Moscow.
Under the agreement, Russian citizens holding valid passports are not required to have a visa in order to enter, exit, transit and stay in Bolivia up to 90 days per period of 180 days from the date of the first entry.
Citizens intending to stay or reside in Bolivia for more than 90 days, or perform any labor or commercial activity, must obtain a visa at the diplomatic mission or consular post of the State.
The Agreement shall enter into force after 60 days from the date of receipt through diplomatic channels of the last written notification of the completion by the parties of necessary domestic procedures.
