In the draft law adopted in the first reading on April 5, 2022, deprivation of citizenship was provided for serious crimes against the state system, crimes of a terrorist nature, as well as crimes in the field of trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
On November 14, 2022, a number of Federation Council senators introduced amendments providing for the deprivation of acquired Russian citizenship for evading military service duties by feigning illness, surrender and desertion.
Now, they also want to add to these grounds “commission of actions that pose a threat to the security of Russia”, which are planned to include, among other things, discrediting the Russian army and fakes about it, calls to violate the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation and participation in undesirable organizations, regardless of the date the crime was detected.
