The Russian government has approved a draft law to expand e-visa opportunities for foreign tourists.
Under the proposed changes, the e-visa validity period will increase from 60 to 120 days, while the permitted stay duration will rise from 16 to 30 days. Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, confirmed these updates, emphasizing their role in boosting tourism and simplifying entry procedures.
The amendments to Article 25.16-1 of the Federal Law on Entry and Exit aim to meet growing demand—541,000 e-visas were issued in the system’s first year (Aug 2023–Jul 2024). The changes will facilitate travel for business, tourism, and humanitarian purposes while maintaining strict migration controls.
