Beginning from January 1, 2018, Ukraine will introduce biometric control of all foreign citizens, including Russian citizens.
By the order of the Ukrainian President, the decision of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) taken in July, 2017, will come into effect. This decision in much became a compromise result of the idea of introduction of a visa regime with Russia which was discussed intensively in Kiev.
According to this decision, beginning fromJanuary 1, 2018, Ukraine will introduce biometric control when crossing the border by foreign citizens, including Russian citizens. The NSDC said that by that time the national system of biometric verification and identification of Ukrainian citizens, foreign citizens and stateless persons shall start working at the Ukranian state border crossing points and at the control entry-exit points.
