On May 1, 2016 the President of Russia signed the federal law "On Amendments to the Article 8 of the Federal Law "On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in Russia".
The amendments provide that the following foreigners will be able to receive the PRP under the simplified procedure: foreigners who received a refugee status or temporary asylum in Russia and became participants of the state program of voluntary resettlement to Russia, as well as their family members.
The permanent residence permit will be issued for the duration of the certificate of the state program on the assistance of the voluntary resettlement to the RF of the compatriots living abroad.
These amendments to the federal law "On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in Russia" will have come into force upon 90 days after its official publication, i.e. on July 31, 2016.
