The order comes into force 6 months after its official publication, i.e. on December 15, 2023.
However, it is not yet clear how this order will be applied, since the basis for acquiring citizenship on the basis of a profession, the list of which is approved by the Ministry of Labor, is only in the current version of the law on citizenship (paragraph "и" part 2 of article 14), which ends on October 26 2023. In the new edition of the law on citizenship (read more about the new law in our news), there is no such basis, just as there is no reference to the list approved by the Ministry of Labor.
At the same time, the new law on citizenship expands the rights of the President of Russia to determine citizens who can obtain Russian citizenship in a simplified manner ( part 9 of article 16 of the law), and there remains the possibility of admission to Russian citizenship in an exceptional manner ( clause 2 of article 17 new law). Apparently, the publication of the regulations of the President is expected, and this list will somehow work after the entry into force of the new law.
We are closely monitoring the situation and will inform about new legal acts related to this list as soon as they are published.
