The State Duma wants to introduce administrative liability for exceeding the cost of the Russian language exam

On June 4, 2024, a draft law was introduced to the State Duma of Russia introducing administrative liability for violation of the procedure for issuing a certificate of proficiency in the Russian language and calculating the cost of the exam. Changes are being made to the Administrative Code, namely, it is planned to expand administrative liability for violation of the requirements for conducting an exam in Russian as a foreign language, the history of Russia and the fundamentals of Russian legislation for migrants.

Administrative responsibility and sanctions are going to be introduced or:

- exceeding the maximum permissible cost of a comprehensive exam for migrants (a fine is provided for officials in the amount of 10-15 thousand rubles, for organizations - 100-150 thousand rubles);
- violation of the procedure for issuing a certificate based on its results (the fine for officials can be 15-20 thousand rubles, for legal entities - 150-200 thousand rubles).

According to the explanatory note, these measures are planned to eliminate the corruption component in the process of taking an exam on knowledge of the Russian language, the history of Russia and the fundamentals of Russian legislation.
