This draft law proposes to introduce one more reason for the termination of Russian citizenship in the new law on Russian citizenship, which enters into force on October 26, 2023 (read more about the new law in our news), namely, "actions expressed in the evasion of a person who has been granted citizenship Russia, from the performance of military duty, mobilization, including violation of the terms of military registration".
The current version of the new law provides for such a basis for the termination of acquired citizenship as the provision of knowingly false information regarding the obligation to comply with the Russian Constitution and Russian legislation, namely:
- commission of a crime (preparation for a crime or attempted crime);
- committing actions that pose a threat to the national security of Russia.
The innovation proposes to supplement the list of types of communication of knowingly false statements about the obligation to abide by the Constitution and laws of Russia by violating the obligations of a Russian citizen to perform military duty and perform military service.
