Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian after negotiations with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Tehran, has proposed abolishing visas for Russians.
“We have good relations on the issue of full liberalization of visas, we have discussed this issue. Iran is ready to abolish visas between the two countries. As a first step, we discussed the abolition of visas for businessmen in order to increase trade cooperation,” Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said at a press conference following negotiations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Soon experts will "finalize these issues," he said.
These are not the first steps towards mutual visa facilitation between Russia and Iran. In 2016, an agreement was signed to simplify the conditions for mutual trips for certain categories of citizens of Russia and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
