Russian President Vladimir Putin signed Federal law No. 305-FZ of 31.07.2020 on amendments to the Federal law on the procedure for leaving the Russian Federation and entering the Russian Federation and invalidating certain provisions of legislative acts of the Russian Federation on the introduction of a universal single entry e-visa from January 1, 2021 for short-term stay of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation for tourist, business, guest and humanitarian purposes.
A universal electronic visa is issued to citizens of foreign countries, the list of which is determined by the Government of the Russian Federation.
The validity period of an e-visa is 60 days from the date of its registration with the permitted period of stay of a foreign citizen in the territory of the Russian Federation no more than 16 days from the date of his entry. To issue it, you need to fill an application on a special website. The e-visa processing period will be no more than four calendar days from the date when the foreign citizen submits an application for its processing.
Entry and leaving of foreign citizens based on e-visas will be carried out through checkpoints across the state border of the Russian Federation, determined by the Government of the Russian Federation (currently only Saint Petersburg, Leningrad and Kaliningrad regions, and the Far East).
