On March 25, 2016 the State Duma adopted in the first reading a draft law simplifying the procedure for granting permanent residence permit in Russia for refugees from Ukraine.
It is proposed to amend the law "On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in Russia". The amendments concern the possibility to obtain a residence permit for foreigners with refugee status and members of the program of voluntary resettlement to Russia, as well as their family members.
The draft law will allow obtaining permanent residence permit in Russia by mentioned foreign citizens without issuing a temporary residence permit and without complying with the terms of the length of residence in Russia and the five-year period of validity of the residence permit. "The residence permit will be issued for the period of validity of the certificate of the member of the state program" - the draft law developers says.
More than 1 million citizens of Ukraine urgently came to Russia on a mass scale. They are staying in Russia at the moment and nearly 325,000 of them applied for asylum in Russia.
Nearly 120,000 Ukrainians applied for membership in the state program.
