Visa to Spain

To travel to Spain, Russian citizens need to obtain a visa. Despite all the current difficulties in obtaining a visa, Russian citizens still travel to Spain, both for tourism and business purposes.

In the past, a Spanish visa could be obtained as a single/double entry or multiple entry with a permitted stay up to 90 days, depending on the decision of the Spanish Consulate. At the moment, according to our company's statistics, Spain is one of the Schengen countries that issues multiple entry visas to Russian citizens valid from 1 to 3 months.

To apply for a visa to Spain, you need to decide on the purpose of your trip. Most often, Russian citizens go to Spain for business or tourism purposes.

If your trip to Spain involves business purposes, such as visiting Spanish company, you must contact the inviting organization to receive an invitation, a copy of which will be sufficient for you to apply for a visa. Based on the above invitation, you may be issued a visa to Spain type C.

If you plan a tourist trip and the purpose of your visit to Spain is tourism, you will need to apply for a tourist visa. You will need to book a hotel and buy airline tickets. The procedure for obtaining a tourist visa will be described below.

Please note that documents for a visa to Spain can be submitted by appointment only. In Moscow, documents can be submitted at the Spanish visa center located at: Kosmodamianskaya embankment, 52, bld. 7.

Every applicant over 12 years of age applying for a Spanish visa must personally provide biometric data at the Spanish Visa Application Centre, regardless of the period of previously submitted biometric data. An exception is made for applications for minors who will not be 12 years old at the time of travel.

The visa application must be submitted no earlier than 6 months before the intended trip. The visa application must be submitted at least 15 calendar days before the date of travel to Spain. We strongly recommend you plan to submit your documents in advance, as the timeframe for documents consideration has been significantly extended, and documents must be submitted by appointment only. However, as of October 2024, it is not possible to sign up to submit documents for both business and tourist visa due to the lack of slots. Confidence Group still has the opportunity to sign up to submit documents for a tourist visa with the provision of a minimum package of documents. The cost of this visa varies significantly. The conditions for obtaining the above visa can be found below.

The application procedure recently has changed. Confidence Group has prepared a detailed description of the procedure for obtaining a visa to Spain as of October 2024. Please note that the procedure for applying for a Spanish visa is constantly changing, detailed information must be clarified.

Detailed description of the procedure for submitting documents for a visa to Spain

1.  Sign up to submit documents.

2.  Filling out an online application form in your personal account after registration. The completed application form must be printed and signed in the required places.

3.  Personal visit to the visa center to submit documents and biometric data, payment of the consular fee for visa processing.

4.  Personal collection of the passport by the applicant, as well as the possibility of ordering return delivery of the passport from the visa center.

Below you can find a list of documents required to obtain a visa to Spain for Russian citizens.

In case of applying for a business visa:

1. The original or a copy of the invitation from the inviting party from Spain on company letterhead, with the signature, full name, position of the signatory, as well as the seal/stamp of the organization and indicating the following:

     ·  details of the invited person (full name, date of birth, passport number, its validity period);

     ·  purpose and duration of the trip, period stay, multiplicity of the visa;

     ·  place of residence/hotel (name, address, phone number);

4.  Reservation of round-trip tickets, which must be valid for the entire period of consideration of documents at the Consulate.

5.  A certificate from work in Russian or English language on the company letterhead, addressed to the Consular Section of the Embassy of Spain in Moscow, with a signature and seal. The certificate must be no older than 1 month by the time of submission.

     ·  Applicants who have their own business must provide a copy of the business registration certificate and a copy of the individual taxpayer identification number (TIN).

6.  For applicants over 18 years of age:

     ·  an extract from Pension and Social Insurance Fund of Russia on work experience over the past 10 years (information on work experience provided from the resources of the Pension and Social Insurance Fund of Russia. The document must be signed with a digital or "live" signature. For individual entrepreneurs, it is required to provide a 2-NDFL or 3-NDFL certificate at least for the past 3 months.

15. Consent to the processing of personal data.

The Consular Section of the Embassy has the right to:

     ·  call the applicant for an interview or re-submit fingerprints;

     ·  request the provision of additional documents/information;

     ·  refuse to issue a visa without giving a reason;

     ·  reduce the requested visa validity period and visa multiplicity;

     ·  extend the visa issuance period to 45 days without giving reasons.

In case of applying for a tourist visa:

1.  Application form completed online after pre-registration for submission of documents. The application form must be printed with and sign by applicant.

2.  Two color photos on a white background (not older than 6 months at the time of submission, not included in previous visas, 35x45 mm, without oval and corners, good quality - not scanned, the face should take up to 70-80% of the photo). Two photos must be provided in original.

3.  A foreign passport with the owner's signature, valid for at least 3 months from the date of the last intended departure from Spain.

4.  Copies of all pages of a valid foreign passport (even those that do not contain marks).

5.  Other foreign passports: valid and cancelled. A second valid passport is required for submission, cancelled passports are not required. All passports are accepted only with attached copies of all their pages (even blank ones). It is recommended to provide passports with Schengen visas issued within the last 5 years.

6.  Original + copies of all pages of the internal Russian passport (even blank ones).

7.  Consent to the processing of personal data.

8.  Confirmation of hotel reservation. The reservation must be valid for the entire period of consideration of documents at the Consulate.

9.  Reservation of round-trip tickets, which must be valid for the entire period of consideration of documents at the Consulate.

10. Financial guarantees:

     ·  original certificate from work. Applicants who have their own business provide a copy of the business registration certificate and a copy of the individual taxpayer identification number (TIN). The document must be no older than 1 month at the time of submission of documents.

     ·  original statement of the applicant's personal account with the balance and transactions for the last 3 months, certified by the bank seal and the signature of the person who issued the document. The applicant may also provide a certificate of currency purchase. The required amount is 113 Euros per person for each day of stay (minimum 1020 Euros per trip per person).

In case of sponsorship of the trip, a sponsorship letter (printed) and financial guarantees of the sponsor (bank statement or certificate of purchase of currency) are provided.

11. For applicants over 18 years of age:

     ·  an extract from Pension and Social Insurance Fund of Russia on work experience over the past 10 years (information on work experience provided from the resources of the Pension and Social Insurance Fund of Russia. The document must be signed with a digital or "live" signature. For individual entrepreneurs, it is required to provide a 2-NDFL or 3-NDFL certificate at least for the past 3 months.

     ·  unemployed applicants provide a document confirming the applicant's ties to Russia (for example, a certificate confirming a civil status act, property ownership rights, or other).

12.  A copy of the insurance policy covering the entire period of stay in Spain and valid in the Schengen area. The original or a color version with a blue seal MUST be provided. ATTENTION: at the moment the Spanish Consulate accepts insurance policies issued by Russian insurance companies, however, due to the requirement of some other Schengen countries for insurance policies issued by EU insurance companies, we recommend providing a policy issued by a European insurance company. You can submit an application for an insurance policy issued by an insurance company in the EU on our website.

The Consular Section of the Embassy has the right to:

• call the applicant for an interview or re-submit fingerprints;

Please note if you need to obtain a multiple-entry Schengen visa, we recommend you to obtain such a visa through French Consulate, which continues to issue Russian citizens, in most cases, multiple-entry visas for up to six months. However, we remind you that it is necessary to enter the territory of the Schengen area through the state whose consulate issued the visa.

Please note that recently the trend towards tightening entry requirements for Russian citizens is obvious, we strongly recommend that when crossing the border you have with you the documents on the basis of which the visa for entry into the Schengen country was issued. If border guards request these documents and you not provide them, entry into the Schengen country may be denied, even if a visa has been issued.
