Visa to China

Russian citizens need to obtain visas to travel to China. Single or double entry visa is usually issued for up to 90/180 days depending on the multiplicity of the visa and allows staying in China for no more than 30 days during each trip.

Pay attention that there are some cities/regions in China with visa-free entry for citizens of the Russian Federation. More details are provided below:

If the duration of your trip exceeds the above deadlines or the destination city is not included in the list of visa-free cities / regions for citizens of the Russian Federation, then you will need to apply for a visa to China. To do this, you need to determine the purpose of your trip. There are several main purposes, namely business, tourist, private and work visas, which differ somewhat in terms of list of documents and in general procedure for applying and obtaining a visa

If the purpose of your trip is business and assumes visiting a Chinese company, then you need to contact the inviting company in order for an invitation to be sent to you. This invitation will give you the right to apply for required category of a visa (F or M). Depending on the urgency, after submitting documents and paying the consular fee you will receive visa to China. 

If the purpose of your trip is tourism, then you need to apply for a tourist visa to China. To do this, you need to have a hotel and air tickets reservations, as well as a trip schedule. You can apply for a tourist visa to China both in standard terms and under accelerated procedure. The list of documents remains unchanged, only the consular fee changes, more details are provided below. 

If the purpose of your visit is work, then you need to apply for a work visa category Z. To do this, you need to request the permits obtained in China for you from the inviting company. Depending on the duration of your employment and job description permits may be different. Documents for obtaining a work visa to China are listed below.

The procedure for obtaining a visa to China through Confidence Group is as follows

Below you can find more detailed information how to apply for a visa to China for citizens of the Russian Federation as well as the list of documents required for obtaining the necessary type of visa.           

Place of the documents submission is the Chinese Visa Service Center in Moscow regardless of the applicant's place of registration. The Chinese Visa Service Center is located at the address: 1, Vasilisa Kozhina str., section 1, Moscow. 

Personal presence of the applicant is not required except for the submission of documents for a multiple-entry business visa as well as for a work visa to China. In this case the submission of documents for visa processing is carried out with the mandatory fingerprinting procedure. 

List of documents required for obtaining a visa to China for Russian citizens: 

Business visa:

1. Original or copy of invitation from inviting company on letterhead with signature and company's seal including:

           ·  personal details of invited person: surname, name, gender, date of birth, passport details etc.;

           ·  trip details: date of arrival and date of departure, place / places of staying, residential address of inviting person etc.; if applicant plans to visit several cities separated reservation for each city is required;

            ·  personal details of inviting person: surname, name, date of birth, passport details.

Invitation letter should be no older than 1 month on the date of submission.

2.   Copy of the license of the inviting company without watermarks (is not required for visa type F).

1. Passport copy / copy of other ID of person who signed invitation letter. If this person is not Chinese citizen copy of residence permit / working visa is mandatory (is not required for visa type F).

Tourist visa:

1.   Roundtrip ticket reservation valid during the whole period of consideration of documents.

2.   Hotel reservation on the whole period of stay in China valid during the whole period of consideration of documents.

3.   Trip schedule in English. 

Private visa:

1.   Original or copy of invitation from inviting party, including:

           ·   personal details of invited person: surname, name, gender, date of birth, passport details etc.;

           ·   trip details: date of arrival and date of departure, place / places of staying, residential address of inviting person etc.; if applicant plans to visit several cities separated reservation for each city is required;

           ·   personal details of inviting person: surname, name, date of birth, passport details.

           ·   Passport copy / copy of other ID of person who signed invitation letter.

Invitation letter should be no older than 1 month on the date of submission.

 Working visa:

To apply for a visa, you need to provide one of the following documents. If you have multiple work permits, please select one of the available ones:

1.   «Notification of work permit for foreign citizens». In case if duration of work does not exceed 90 days applicant should apply for a visa before start of work within the period specified in the notification.

2.   Permit for commercial cultural performances issued by authority in the field of culture and tourism of the People's Republic of China. If the duration of the event does not exceed 90 days, it is also required to provide «Certificate of short-term work in China for foreigners» The applicant must apply for a visa before the start date specified in the "Certificate of short-term work in China for foreigners", the duration of the event can't exceed the period specified in this certificate. Information in both specified documents should match.

3.  Copy of the "Certificate of Registration of Permanent Representative offices of foreign (regional) companies" issued by market control authority.

4.   «Invitation for foreigners to participate in offshore oil operations in China» from Chinese National Shelf Oil Corporation.

5.   Copy of the license of the inviting company without watermarks.

List of documents required from applicant to apply for any type of visa to China:

1.   Certificate from employer in English on company's letterhead addressed to the Consular Section of the Embassy of People's Republic of China in Russia with specified surname and name in line with passport, job title, date of employment, salary. Certificate should be no older than 1 month on the date of submission.

2.   Medical insurance policy covered period of stay on China (is not required for business visa).

3.   Passport with holder's signature valid not less than 3 month after date of visa expiration + copy of page with photo.

4.   If applicant has citizenship of two or more countries, he should provide originals of all passports even expired. Passports will be unavailable during the whole period of consideration of documents.

5.   Copies of previous Chinese visas (if available) + copies of pages with photos of other passports if previous visa is not in current passport (in case of personal details changes copy of appropriate certificate is also required).

6.   Copy of internal Russian passport (pages 4-5, 6-7, 18-19 and with photo).

7.   Photo in electronic view (colored on a white background JPEG, 40-120 kb, sizes from 354 (width)*472 (height) pixels to 420 (width)*560 (height) pixels. Not older than 6 month, not appeared in passports, in decent quality. Face should take place at least 70-80 % of the image. Colored on white background printed photo 3,3 x 4,8 cm is also required. 8.   Application form with applicant's signature.

9.  Consent to the processing of personal data with internal passport details and applicant's signature. Foreign citizens should complete in Russian, Russian address should be specified in both fields with address.

10.  Information regarding all trips for the last 5 years. In case of staying more than 30 days in the third country during one trip and in case of 3 or more visits to Turkey, Iraq, Syria, Pakistan for the last 5 years passport could be delayed for additional verification at least for 2 month. It is impossible to return it back at the applicant's request.

Pay attention that applicants born in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tadjikistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan must provide additional documents: statement from bank account or banking card, certificate from employer, copy of birth certificate. Certificate confirming absense of criminal record can be also requested.

The Consulate also has the right:

        ·   to call applicant for an interview and / or fingerprinting procedure;

       ·    to request additional documents;

       ·    to refuse visa without reasons explanation.
