On October 10, 2023, new rules for the stay of foreigners in Kyrgyzstan, including Russian citizens, came into force
On October 17, 2023, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic published an
information message on the entry into force of Regulation No. 541 “On the procedure for the stay of foreign citizens on the territory of Kyrgyzstan.” This document cancels the so-called the possibility of a “visaran” for citizens from visa-free countries, which made it possible to reset the maximum permissible period of stay of 90 days an unlimited number of times by crossing the state border. Now foreign citizens who stay in the republic for more than 90 days must apply to the authorized bodies to obtain documents giving the right to long-term stay.On October 19, 2023, a message from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan was published, which states that one of such documents is registration at the place of stay.
Thus, the abolition of the visa and the limitation of the period of stay to 90 days in a period of 180 days is valid only for those Russians who have not registered at their place of stay in the Kyrgyz Republic, and the clarifications of the Russian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan saying that from October 26, 2023, Russian citizens who entered Kyrgyzstan could register for up to 6 months, and after this date for no more than 90 days, which is not true.
