The Ministry of Internal Affairs has prepared a draft law on regulating the status of persons deprived of Russian citizenship
Russia plans to legislatively establish the terms of possible stay in the country for persons who have lost Russian citizenship - such persons will be able to stay in the country from 15 to 90 days, depending on the situation. Information about the preparation and approval of the draft law by the Russian Government appeared in the media with links to Izvestia.
The amendments are planned to be introduced in connection with the entry into force of the new law on Russian citizenship on October 26, 2023 (read more about the law in our news).
The draft law also proposes to introduce a simplified procedure for issuing a residence permit for persons who have relatives permanently residing in the territory that previously belonged to the Russian Empire or the USSR.
The text of the draft law is not yet publicly available; all media refer to Izvestia, which became familiar with the draft law through sources in the Cabinet of Ministers.
According to the Izvestia report, on May 20 the draft law was supported by the government commission on legislative activities.
