Ministry of Internal Affairs resumed accepting applications for biometric passports

From June 1, 2023, the acceptance of applications for the issuance of an international passport with an electronic storage medium (new-style passport) has been resumed. You can submit an application to the territorial body of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia or to the multifunctional center, the corresponding service has also been launched on the State Services (Gosuslugi) portal.

The acceptance of applications for issuing a new passport was suspended at the beginning of February 2023, as we wrote about in our news.

According to official reports from Goznak, this was due to a shortage of components. Later, a replacement was found with imported components - Mikron JSC set up the production of domestic microcircuits, and the issuance of new-style passports became possible again.

However, Confidence Group specialists warn that due to the large number of applicants, the number of recording slots may be limited.
