On November 9, 2024, a law was published recognizing illegal presence in Russia of a foreign citizen who has committed a crime as an aggravating circumstance
On November 9, 2024, Federal Law No. 384-FZ of November 9, 2024 "On Amending Article 63 of the Criminal Code of Russia" was published.According to this law, illegal presence on the territory of Russia will be recognized as an aggravating circumstance when committing a criminal offense.
This draft law was part of a package of five initiatives aimed at curbing illegal migration. The draft laws were introduced to the State Duma by deputies of all factions, headed by the Chairman of the Chamber Vyacheslav Volodin on October 1 (read more about these initiatives in our news).
The law came into force on the day of its official publication, that is, 09.11.2024.
