From February 5, 2025, foreign citizens temporarily staying in Russia will be registered at the place of stay for no more than one year
The
Russian Government Resolution of 04.12.2024 No. 1715 was published, amending paragraph 32 of the Rules for the implementation of migration registration of foreign citizens and stateless persons in the Russian Federation, approved by Government Resolution No. 9 of 15.01.2007.The Government Resolution changes the period for registration of foreign citizens temporarily staying in Russia for migration purposes. In accordance with the wording of the Resolution, a foreign citizen temporarily staying in Russia is registered at the place of stay for the period stated in the notification of arrival at the place of stay, but for no more than one year.
Please note that the law does not specify for which category of temporarily staying citizens this rule will apply. It is assumed that this refers to temporarily staying citizens who arrived in Russia both in a manner that does not require a visa and in a manner that requires a visa.
It also does not specify from what moment one year should be counted. Confidence Group hopes that by 05.02.2025 some additional clarifications will be received regarding the moment of counting this period or the corresponding changes will be made to the current legislation.
