On April 16, 2025, the
Order of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Russia dated 03.04.2025 No. 172n "On approval of the list of professions (specialties, positions) of foreign citizens and stateless persons - qualified specialists entitled to obtain a residence permit in Russia without obtaining a temporary residence permit" was published.We wrote about the preparation of this order in our news.
The published order reduces the number of professions that give the right to simplified (without preliminary obtaining of a temporary residence permit) obtaining of a residence permit in Russia several times - in the previous version of the list there were 203 names, the new version contains only 29 professions.
All medical workers, as well as a number of management positions (such as the financial director), were excluded from the list. The new list mainly includes engineering and technology specialties, some manufacturing professions, and programmers.
The order comes into force 10 days after publication, i.e. on April 27, 2025.
