On January 1, 2024 the order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs comes into force, according to which the functions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs concerning the extension and reduction of the period of temporary stay of foreign citizens are transferred to the Migration Centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia
Order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia No. 889 dated 23.11.2023 "On Amendments to the Procedure for Decision-Making on Extension or Reduction of the Temporary Stay of a Foreign Citizen or Stateless Person in Russia, approved by Order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia No. 926 dated November 22, 2021" was published.This order involves the Migration Centers in the implementation of the functions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs related to the extension and reduction of the period of temporary stay of foreign citizens.
In particular, the Migration Centers, along with the territorial bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, will perform the functions of receiving, considering and preparing materials on the extension or reduction of the period of temporary stay of foreign citizens in Russia; decisions on the extension or refusal to extend the period of authorized temporary stay will be taken by the heads of the Migration Centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, among others.
Corresponding changes have been made to the recommended samples of the stamp on the extension of the period of temporary stay, notices of refusal to extend or reduce the period of temporary stay.
Please note that these functions are not transferred entirely to the Migration Centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, territorial bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia will also perform them.
The order comes into force on January 1, 2024.
