The Ministry of Economic Development proposed to introduce multiple-entry visas for foreign citizens and a number of other measures to improve the business climate
The Russian Ministry of Economic Development proposed introducing changes to the visa regime, making it easier for some categories of foreign citizens. This was
announced by Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia Dmitry Vakhrukov during the Russian Tourism Forum, held on June 12-16, 2024.It is proposed to introduce the following visa regime relaxations:
- unilaterally cancel the visa regime for citizens of a number of countries;
- introduce the possibility of obtaining visas to Russia upon arrival;
- change the validity period and cost of visas, introduce their multiple-entry analogues, namely multiple-entry, including electronic, visas valid from 15 months to two years;
- allow tourists on cruise ships to stay in Russia without visas for 3 days.
Among the countries with which the visa regime may be abolished are Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Malaysia and Myanmar.
It is reported that a number of documents may be signed before the end of this year.
