draft federal law "On Amendments to Articles 21 and 37 of the Federal Law "On Citizenship of Russia" was submitted to the State Duma of Russia in order to improve the legislation in the field of Russian citizenship in terms of the fulfillment by a person who has acquired Russian citizenship of the obligation to take the Oath of Citizenship of Russia.The draft law proposes to lower the age of taking the oath upon acquiring Russian citizenship from 18 to 14 years.
According to the explanatory note to the draft law, it is being introduced "in order to increase the patriotic spirit and consciously take the obligation to comply with the Constitution of Russia and the legislation of Russia."
