On July 31, 2024, the Russian State Duma adopted in the first reading a
law according to which citizens who have received Russian citizenship (naturalized) will be required to fulfill their military service and register for military service, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs will be required to provide in electronic form the information necessary for military registration about persons who have received Russian citizenship.The law also plans to include in the list of grounds for termination of acquired Russian citizenship (clause 2, part 1, article 22 of the Law "On Citizenship of Russia") the failure of a new Russian citizen to fulfill the obligation to register for military service.
