Order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia dated May 6, 2024 No. 240 “On amendments to the Procedure for submitting a notification of acquisition of citizenship of a foreign state or obtaining a residence permit or other document confirming the right to permanent residence of a citizen of Russia in the territory of a foreign state” was published.

This order includes the number of bodies accepting notifications about the acquisition of citizenship of a foreign state or obtaining a residence permit or other document confirming the right to permanent residence of a citizen of Russia on the territory of a foreign state.

Also on June 6, 2024, Order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia dated May 20, 2024 No. 268 “On amendments to the Procedure for making a decision on extending or shortening the period of temporary stay of a foreign citizen or stateless person in Russia, approved by order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia dated November 22, 2021 . No. 926” was published".

In accordance with this order, the PVS will also accept applications or petitions to extend the period of temporary stay of a foreign citizen in Russia.

We remind you that on June 23, 2024, the Federal Law of December 25, 2023 No. 648-FZ “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Russia” comes into force, expanding the practice of involving enterprises subordinate to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, as well as authorized organizations of subjects of Russia, to assist the Ministry of Internal Affairs in providing public services in the field of migration, namely the enterprise “Passport and Visa Service” (PVS). Also, the order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia dated March 20, 2024 No. 121 was recently published, establishing a list of subjects of Russia where PVS will be involved in the provision of public services in the field of migration (more details in our news).

The provisions of the by-laws relating to the attraction of PVS come into force on June 23, 2024, together with the Federal Law on the attraction of PVS.
